What Does Eco Friendly Cleaning Mean?
Green cleaning is not just a gimmick or a marketing ploy. It means using environmentally preferable products and services that have a lesser or reduced effect on human health and the environment. Green cleaning is about providing, maintaining and improving cleanliness and sustaining pollution control while protecting individuals and the environment from the risks posed by hazardous cleaning supplies and processes. Green cleaning products should reduce waste, the risks to your health and of course the impact on the environment

Reason T Go Green
Adopting environmentally friendly and energy efficient personal practices provides numerous benefits to you who are become socially responsible. The federal government's Executive Order #1301 defines green products as "environmentally preferable" products and services that "have a lesser or reduced effect on human health and the environment when compared with competing products or services that serve the same purpose.” If you go to your cupboard and pick up a cleaner, any cleaner, you might see it contains chlorine, phenol, ammonia or formaldehyde. Do you want these potentially toxic chemicals in your home? According to the US Environmental Protection Agency, the air inside a typical home is approximately 2 to 5 times more polluted than the air just outside and in extreme cases 100 times more contaminated – largely because of household cleaners and pesticides. The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) ranks indoor air quality among the top five environmental risks and links it, in part, to cleaning product exposure.

Cleaning products with reduced health, safety, and environmental impacts are readily available and are being used successfully in both public and private settings.  Many companies and households see changing from traditional cleaning products to “green” cleaning products as a necessary part of everyday living. There can be few arguments against using non-toxic and biodegradable cleaning products in the home and office.  It is important for our health and the health of our planet. Green products are healthier, in the long term. Injuries caused because of harsh and toxic chemicals include:
40% involve eye irritation and burns
35% involve skin irritation and burns
12% involve breathing chemical fumes
The Consumer Product Safety Commission has linked 150 chemicals that are usually found in homes with ailments like allergies, birth defects, breast cancer, prostate cancer, declining sperm counts, and psychological abnormalities.

Improved indoor air quality:
Pollutants indoors can be as much as 2-5 times higher than outdoors levels. Many traditional cleaning products contain volatile organic compounds (VOCs). When cleaning, these VOC's are released into the air through evaporation and can affect indoor air quality.

Reduced environmental impact:
Including regional and global environmental issues such as air pollution, water pollution, raw materials resource use, bioaccumulation of chemicals in plants and animals, ozone depletion, and global climate change. Green cleaning also reduces the amount and toxicity of products and chemicals requiring disposal.

Conserving natural resources:
Resource problems that humans have helped create, such as the disappearance of forests and diminishing oil supplies, can be solved by making a conscious effort to reduce the use of products derived from natural resources, such as paper. If we start using less paper to clean or switch to paper made from recycled-materials that are certified green we will be making a difference. When we make sure that lights are turned off and water is not wasted when cleaning we are also playing our part.  Making resource conservation a top priority in your daily decisions is a key part of going green.
